H1N1 webinar for parents

The Montreal Children’s Hospital hosts its 1st web based lecture

The Montreal Children’s Hospital of the Ď㽶ĘÓƵ Health Centre will host two webinars (web based lectures) on September 14 (English) and 16 (French) at 8 p.m. The webinars will be a class room style allowing for interaction between the speaker and participants.

Dr. Caroline Quach, an infectious disease specialist at The Montreal Children’s Hospital will host the two lectures which aim to give parents and caregivers helpful information about the H1N1 flu virus:  why is this flu virus different from the regular flu, how can you minimize your child’s chances of getting the flu, what should you do if your child gets the flu, if your child is ill when do you need to see a doctor?  These are just a few of the questions Dr. Quach will try to answer during the 45 minute lecture which includes a question and answer session.

“There have been a lot of stories about the H1N1 virus, some stories have been unnecessarily alarmist,” says Dr. Caroline Quach. “This lecture gives me a chance to provide parents with some simple and practical information and advice about the flu virus. It will also allow me to talk with parents and answer their questions and hopefully clear up any misinformation.”

“The Montreal Children’s Hospital is excited about hosting its first webinar. This technology allows us to reach busy parents right in their homes,” says Lisa Dutton, Manager of Public Relations and Communications. “We are planning to host more webinars on pediatric health issues later this year.”

Each webinar is open to 100 participants. To register go The Montreal Children’s Hospital website .
