Field hockey team rallies to salvage trip to Toronto

TORONTO -- McGill rallied from 1-0 and 2-1 deficits to settle for a 2-2 draw against the Western Ontario Mustangs in women's field hockey at Lamport Stadium in Toronto, Sunday, to salvage a 1-1-1 road trip in southern Ontario.

Shannon Sibold, a freshman from Calgary, scored in the 34th minute to tie the game at 1-1 but Western regained the lead 16 mnutes later. Rookie Sarah Main of North Vancouver, B.C., saved the day for McGill, netting the equalizer in the 67th minute.

Earlier in the day, McGill rebounding from Friday's 6-0 loss on Friday to division-leading Toronto by rallying with three unanswered goals in a nine-minute span to edge Waterloo 3-2.

Main notched the winning tally in the 68th minute.
Ìý
Trailing 2-0, Camille St-Cyr of Richmond, B.C., put McGill on the scoreboard in the 59th minute and teammate Maria Oswald of Vancouver, B.C.,Ìý tied the score at 2-2 five minutes later.

Goalkeeper Jaqueline Riddle, a sophomore from Guelph, Ont., was in nets for all McGill games.
Ìý
The Martlets improved to third in the seven-team Ontario conference with a 3-1 record, two points in arrears of second-place Guelph (4-1).
Ìý
McGill heads to Kingson next weekend, for key games against Guelph, Toronto and Queen's.
