MONTREAL - Vanessa Davidson of Kirkland, Que., had three points and a first-period shorthanded goal by defenceman Cathy Chartrand of Lac Nominingue, Que., stood up as No. 1-ranked McGill blanked Concordia 3-0 in women's hockey, Saturday.

It was McGill's 67th consecutive victory against a Canadian university team, tying the CIS national record set by the Alberta Pandas between 2003 and 2005.

McGill's streak includes a 32-0 record against teams that have been ranked in the CIS Top 10 poll. The result also marked McGill's 30th straight win over their cross-town rivals since losing a 2-1 decision to Concordia on Feb. 5, 2006.

The Martlets, who improved to 10-0 in league action, now have a 23-day layoff for exams before they attempt to break the mark on Dec. 28 when resuming play against Toronto at the Theresa Humes tourney, hosted by Concordia.

Freshman netminder Taylor Salisbury of Surrey, B.C., needed only nine saves to register the shutout for McGill, which outshot the Stingers by an overwhelming 52-9 margin.

Despite the lopsided shot count, including a 20-1 difference in the final frame, McGill maintained a precarious 1-0 lead until early in the final period.

A pair of power-play goals from Vanessa Davidson and Ann-Sophie Bettez, at 5:50 and 13:27, respectively, put the game out of reach.

"We had many scoring chances but had some bad bounces," said Amey Doyle, in her first season as head coach at McGill. "The girls seemed a little frustrated when we failed to get the breaks and the room was very quiet in the second intermission. However, we were able to maintain our focus andÌý it was 'business as usual' after we made it 2-0."
