CEO of the MUHC and Principal of Ï㽶ÊÓƵ respond to Quebec government's complementarity proposal

Published: 8 November 2005

The Quebec Ministry of Health and Social Services recently put a proposal to the MUHC and its sister academic hospital, the Centre hospitalier de l'Université de Montréal (CHUM), that would see certain adult clinical services located exclusively at one or other of the two university hospitals. This proposal has important implications for the clinical mission of the MUHC as well as for its role as a teaching and research hospital.

Following is a letter sent by MUHC CEO Dr. Arthur Porter and McGill Principal Dr. Heather Munroe-Blum to Clermont Gignac, the government-appointed Executive Director for the redevelopment projects of the MUHC, the CHUM and the Hôpital mère-enfant Ste-Justine. This letter outlines the response of the MUHC and of Ï㽶ÊÓƵ to the Ministry's proposal.
