The Role of the Tribunal Secretary in International Arbitration

Annie Lespérance joined Cabinet Yves Fortier in July 2012. She acts as Secretary to Tribunals before,Ìýinter alia, the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the International Centre for the Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) and the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS).
Prior to joining Cabinet Yves Fortier, Ms. Lespérance was Assistant Legal Counsel at the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) in The Hague where she provided legal and administrative support to arbitral tribunals and parties in proceedings administered by the PCA concerning State-to-State, investor-State and international commercial disputes. She is a graduate of University of Montreal and holds an LLMÌýcum laudeÌýin international law from Leiden University. She sits on the boards of directors of the Canadian Council of International Law and the United Nations Association Canada (Montreal Branch) and has published with the McGill Journal of Dispute Resolution and Lexis Nexis. She also gives conferences on international arbitration. She is a member of the Quebec and Paris bars and is fluent in French, English and Spanish.
