Nicol Korner-Bitensky, PhD, School of P&OT, McGill University. Stroke Rehabilitation in Canada: Reaching for Optimal Quality.

The quality of stroke care is known to impact on survival and function. Yet, little is known about actual practices in stroke rehabilitation.

This presentation will:

  1. describe the findings of the Canada-wide survey where we identified the prevalence of problem identification; and, typical assessments and interventions used in the treatment of individuals with stroke;
  2. explore practice styles of clinicians, and how our personal styles impact on our treatment practices;
  3. introduce clinicians to StrokEngine — — the stroke rehabilitation website created in English and French to provide clinicians and patients/families with the latest evidence on the effectiveness of interventions used in stroke rehabilitation.
