Cohosted with Allan Vicaire, Project coordinator on the Aboriginal Sustainability Project, Social Equity and Diversity Education Office (SEDE) at McGill, this Freaky Friday will be introduced by Christina Fon, a co-producer of the film Reel Injun.
In the documentary Reel Injun, we see how First Nations people are depicted in Hollywood. Starting in the silent era, the film traces the history of native stereotypes and presents an array of insightful interview subjects, from director Clint Eastwood to Canadian actor Adam Beach (Flags of Our Fathers) to activists Sacheen Littlefeather and Russell Means. the narrator, Neil Diamond, a Cree from Waskaganish, Quebec, has created several award-winning documentaries and docudramas that focus on aboriginal life and issues, including One More River (2004), which looks at a 2002 decision to construct a Hydro-Québec dam on Cree land.
