Broadcast -- Mini-Science - Island Universes: The Nature and Origin of Galaxies
In this episode of Mini-Science, broadcast by the Canal Savoir TV station, Prof. Tracy Webb will lecture on how galaxies are the basic building blocks of large scale structure in the universe. They hold clues to everything from the formation of stars to the nature of Dark Matter. In this lecture Prof. Webb will describe the basic characteristics of galaxies, outline the methods we use to study them, and highlight some of the main results and open questions in the field of galaxy formation and evolution.
