Fostering Creativity in Engineering Education

Chehrazade Aboukinane

An introductory course to engineering design was taught following an experiential and team based learning model. A variety of data was collected to determine how creativity was unleashed among students after completing the course. The fundamental hypothesis tested was whether the experiential and team based model used in the freshman engineering design course enhanced creativity among students. As part of the effort to seek models of teaching and learning that encourage students to be more creative while solving complex problems in the world of engineering, findings of this study can be used to determine how creativity can be fostered and measured through experiential and team based learning
