Tungasuvvingat Inuit Launches Inuit Cultural Sensitivity Training

Tungasuvvingat Inuit, an Inuit-specific urban services provider based in Ottawa, is pleased to invite you to participate in free Inuit Cultural Sensitivity Training taking place online throughout the months of April, May and June. The training is catered to service providers who work with Inuit children, youth and families in Ontario and Southern Canada.

This training is designed to give participants a better understanding of the historical, legal, social and political circumstances of Inuit in the South and provide insight into Inuit culture, traditional parenting practices, the effects of colonization and urbanization on Inuit families, and much more.

The 4 hour training is being offered virtually through Zoom from 9:00am-1:00pm EST on the following dates:

  • Tuesday April 18, 2023;
  • Tuesday May 2, 2023;
  • Tuesday May 16, 2023;
  • Tuesday May 30, 2023; or
  • Tuesday June 13, 2023.

The training will be delivered by Sandra Thibaudeau and Tauni Sheldon. Sandra is from Nunavut and currently lives in Ottawa, working with Inuit children and youth. Tauni is a Sixties Scoop survivor from Nunavik who currently works with various Child and Family Services agencies in Ontario to support Inuit children, youth and families involved with the child welfare system.
