New website for KPE鈥檚 Spinal Cord Injury Peer Mentorship team
Dr. Shane Sweet, of our Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education (KPE), has launched a new website for a community-university partnership on Spinal Cord Injury Peer Mentorship (SCIPM): www.mcgill.ca/scipm
厂丑补苍别听厂飞别别迟鈥檚 program of research aims to enhance the lives of adults with spinal cord injury through peer mentorship and by working in partnership with community-based organizations. Peer mentorship is defined as interaction that helps individuals who share similar lived experiences to adapt and thrive.
The SCIPM team鈥檚 research aims to identify the key outcomes in spinal cord injury peer mentorship and create a much-needed peer mentorship evaluation tool. The SCIPM team includes members from spinal cord injury associations across the country including Ability New Brunswick, Spinal Cord Injury Alberta, Spinal Cord Injury Ontario, Spinal Cord Injury BC and researchers from UBC Okanagan and the Rick Hansen Institute. The team also includes Dr. Lee Schaefer, Assistant Professor with KPE, and Dr. Meredith Rocchi, a postdoctoral fellow with KPE.
