McGill tries to chop down competition at lumberjack event

More than 140 competitors from six Canadian universities and colleges competed in the 57th annual McGill intercollegiate woodsmen competition Saturday at McGill’s Macdonald campus in Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue. The Mac lumberjills left the competition in the sawdust came by winning the women’s division with 1170.03 points, edging out Dalhousie, with 1124.37. The win allowed the Mac women to solidify their hold in first place in the six-team Canadian Intercollegiate Lumberjack Association (CILA). The Mac lumberjacks placed fourth on the men’s side with 927.82 points. Montreal Gazette. .
