It’s small wonder that buying drugs is expensive. The federal government is consulting on whether a national pharmacare program can reduce costs, while providing coverage to vulnerable populations. But there is a complementary avenue to be explored that promises to lower healthcare costs and revitalize Canada’s pharmaceutical industry—personalized medicine.
