BCL/LLB students: are you interested in participating in the IASL’s Speed Moot? [survey]
Are you interested in participating in the IASL’s Speed Moot?
The McGill Institute of Air and Space Law is organizing a competitive “speed moot” (details below) to be held on Friday and Saturday, March 23 and 24, 2018. This competition is, in effect, a soft launch of a new sponsored McGill Intramural Air Law Moot competition that will begin formally in 2019. We want to gauge how many BCL/LLB students would be interested in this year’s “speed” version of the competition. Although we will not be able to offer credit this year, there will be prizes and a post-moot celebration dinner!
We would greatly appreciate your help in answering the survey below - it is a simple "yes or no" question, and would take less than a minute of your time! Â We need this information in order to host the speed moot. Please respond by Friday, February 9.
About the speed moot
To participate, each team must have two members. There will be no written submissions. Teams will make oral arguments only. The forum tribunal will be the International Court of Justice. The case problem will involve the international air law principle, found in many bilateral air services treaties, that puts a restrictive cap on the amount of foreign ownership of national airlines. The case will have only two principal issues (one for each team member). Arguments will be limited to ten minutes for each oralist. Each team will argue at least once for the appellant and once for the respondent.Â
We would like each participant to respond individually to the survey.Â
We look forward to having you at the moot. We hope it will be a fun way to launch this new sponsored intramural competition.
