JUNE CAREER STUDIOS

Are you looking to kick-start your career, find a summer job or build your experience and network in a specific field? Are you feeling overwhelmed or paralyzed by the entire process? You are not alone!

The CaPS Career Studios are interactive workshops designed to help you launch your job search and career planning process! Join other like-minded students during the month of May to take small practical steps to reduce your levels of stress and uncertainty!

Get your hands dirty through discussion, practice, and trial and error! In these 60-minute sessions, we will explore the nitty-gritty of CVs, job search, interviews and LinkedIn.

Two Career Advisors will be on hand to work with you and to answer all of your career-related questions. The Career Studios also provide participants with an opportunity to network with other attendees and support each other in a collaborative and judgment-free environment.

CAREER STUDIO 1: KILLER Resumes!Ìý Wednesday, June 5 - Brown Room 2200 - 14h00-15h00

In this 1st Career Studio, we will go over what makes a killer resume and work together to ensure yours is the best it can be for the type of position you’re looking for.

You must bring aÌýhard copy of your resume and your laptop.

• Strategies for customizing your resume for specific jobs


CAREER STUDIO 2: PROACTIVE JOB SEARCH! Thursday, June 13 - Brown Room 2200 -Ìý15h00-16h00

In this 2nd Career Studio, we will use tools and resources to teach you how to find the answers these questions:

  • How do I research industries for career prospects and learn industry key issues?
  • How can I find the companies that make up a given industry?
  • How can I learn more about a specific company?
  • What is the current job market and job prospects for a specific occupation?

By attending this studio, you will walk away with:

  • Hands on experience on how to use industry classification systems, and company directories
  • Tips on what to look for while conducting industry, company, and occupational research

CAREER STUDIO 3: OPTIMIZING LINKEDIN! Tuesday, June 18, Brown Room 2200 - 15h00-16h00

In this 4th Career Studio, we will review how to create an effective LinkedIn profile and use the platform to grow your network.

By attending this studio, you will walk away with:

  • Concrete steps to improve your profile and properly navigate the platform
  • Tips on how to effectively network with alumni and industry professionals

CAREER STUDIO 4: EFFECTIVE INTERVIEWING! Wednesday, June 26, Brown 2200Ìý- 14h00-15h30

In this 3rd Career Studio, we will discuss how to successfully prepare for upcoming interviews. Through a series of interactive exercises, we will help you focus on identifying your skills and experiences so that you will be able to confidently tackle those difficult interview questions.

By attending this studio, you will walk away with:

  • The do and don’ts of effective interviewing, as well as useful prep tools
  • More confidence in responding to challenging interview questions
