CaPS is hosting a virtual Mentor Circle on "Global Perspectives: Exploring Careers in Development, Policy, and Equity" that will focus on the intersections of international development, foreign policy, and public policy. This event is designed for students and new grads who are looking to deepen their understanding in these critical areas, especially as they relate to U.S. race and gender dynamics. This is an opportunity for students to network, as well as explore careers in International Organizations and Government.?Ìý
This event will explore key themes, including:Ìý

· Public Policy Analysis: Gain insights into how public policy is shaped and influenced by global events and domestic agendas.ÌýÌý
· Race, Gender, and Public Policy: Examine the role of race and gender in shaping U.S. public policy. Understand the systemic barriers and opportunities that impact diverse communities and how to advocate for equitable solutions.Ìý
· Leadership and Organizational Management: Delve into essential skills for effective leadership in the public sector.ÌýÌý
Ìý
Speaker Bio:ÌýElizabeth works in the field of international development on projects that address human rights, gender, governance. She currently runsÌýGender LEAD, USAID's flagship gender equality programÌýthat worksÌýto strengthen and substantially expand support for integrating gender into USAID's work around the world. In this role, she works with USAID missions around the world to develop strategies and action plans to advance gender equality via long-term development strategies. This work builds on a 10-year career working throughout East, West, and Southern Africa, and held a long-term leadership position in Sri Lanka during the COVID-19 pandemic, working to strengthen core justice institutions, processes, and actors responsible for the administration of justice. She has also performed research in the fields of social policy and human rights, working with the Africa Center on Economic Transformation to analyze care economies, and with the African American Redress Network to advance policy research on reparations in the United States. She holds a master's degree in public administration from Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs and a bachelor's degree in political science and African studies from Ï㽶ÊÓƵ.
