Applications are invited for a postdoctoral researcher position at Ï㽶ÊÓƵ. The position will be jointly affiliated with the Canada Research Chair in International Migration (Thomas Soehl) and Demo-Tip lab (Aaron Erlich). The researcher will also be affiliated with the , an inter-university research centre.
Substantive Focus and Responsibilities
The position will be split between two research projects.
Tajribati - Early Integration Trajectories of Syrians in Canada -ÌýThis project collected the first wave of a nationally representative survey of Syrians who were resettled to Canada between 2015 and 2017. Over the next two years, the project will create its first reports and research papers from this data, while also preparing the second wave of data collection. More information .
Study of Nigerians at Home and Abroad -ÌýThis SSHRC funded research project will use a variety of innovative survey recruitment strategies to conduct a global survey of the Nigerian diaspora. Initial pre-tests of the fieldwork strategy are completed but we plan to launch several additional surveys over the 2-year funding period of the project.
The researcher is expected to take an active role in pushing these projects forward, in collaboration with graduate students and undergraduate research assistants. The researcher will also have opportunities to develop their own research within these projects. Tasks will include literature reviews, preparing data collection and fielding online surveys, data management, coding, and cleaning, data analysis, drafting papers for publication, and presentation of results. The position does not entail any teaching and is a great opportunity for a scholar to build their C.V.
