For many years, posters and newspaper ads created by designers in McGill's Graphic Services unit served as the primary marketing tool for the Beatty Lecture. The oldest Beatty promotional poster held in the McGill Archives dates back to 1972 when the British socialist journalist Peter Richie Calder delivered a series of three rousing lectures.
