In our latest installment of “Faculty of Arts Staff Spotlights”, where we feature the outstanding members of our Faculty’s administrative and support staff who are responsible for the magic going on behind the scenes, we are introducing our readers to Cecile Lo Moun Mew, Student Affairs Coordinator at the French Language Centre.

Q: Tell us about your background and how you came to join the administrative team at the French Language Centre?
I started as a casual employee in 2008 and then applied when a permanent position became available and from then on, I’ve worked for the French Language Centre.
Q: What’s the most unique part of your job and why?
I am proud to work with twenty-five faculty lecturers and course lecturers. The most rewarding part is to help students achieve their educational goals learning in French at McGill who register for our courses. I like consulting with the students and the instructors and I’m happy to address any issues for the smooth running of the French Language Centre. I like to interact with our student population coming from other provinces of Canada and various countries.
Q: Think about how you’ve impacted your team’s success. How has your role evolved since you joined the team?
I like learning so when faced with challenges, you try to surpass your limits. I can interact with different people from diverse background, this helps to build team spirits. Each student is unique and over the years I have been able to adapt to be able to support them.
Q: What are some hobbies or pastimes you enjoy during your free time?
I like reading, travelling, going to the movies, swimming, and hiking.
Q: What do you love about living in Montreal?
Montreal is a vibrant city full of activities and events. I enjoy the different cuisines across the city. You can visit Montreal just by walking around.
