Winning entries in International Garden Festival competition
Six have been selected in the 15th International Garden Festival of Jardins de Métis / Reford Gardens for 2014. The competition attracted 293 proposals for contemporary gardens, submitted from 35 countries. One of the winning entries, ²Ñé°ù¾±²õ³Ùè³¾±ð by Montréal collective Châssi, includes Ph.D. student François Leblanc, together with Marie-Josée Gagnon (intern architect at Daoust Lestage Inc.) and Caroline Magar (student in landscape architecture, Université de Montréal). Another winning entry, Afterburn by Brooklyn-based Civilian Projects, includes recent professional M.Arch. graduate (2010) Ksenia Kagner, together with Nicko Elliott.
The jury was composed of Denis Boucher, chargé de projet, Conseil du patrimoine religieux du Québec; Cécile Combelle, architect with Atelier Barda and designer of the Sacré potager garden for the 2013 edition of the Festival; Vincent Lemay, landscape architect; Matei Paquin, project development director, Moment Factory; Ann Webb, past executive director and publisher, Canadian Art Foundation; and Alexander Reford, director of Jardins de Métis / Reford Gardens and the International Garden Festival.
