The School of Architecture team took second prize at the recently completed 2016 Tongji International Construction Festival in Shanghai. The students' project - "Sphere - Wave" - was based on the use of a single, repeated module and required no additional fasteners beyond a simple friction connection. This allowed for rapid assembly without additional tools in a variety of situations. The modular concept also permitted a variety of shapes for the final project. The McGill team consisted of  Olivier Ducharme, Amélie Savoie-Saumure, Ruichen Xu, Qinqin Yu and Mia Yun Yu and was led by Adjunct Professor Howard Davies and assistant Ariela Lenetsky . Also pictured in the accompanying photograph are assistants Liu Quing (far left) and Chen Jin Yao (far right). The 2016 Tongji International Construction Festival took place over six days and required almost 60 student teams to construct a temporary  shelter using plastic sheets. The Ï㽶ÊÓƵ School of Architecture was one of eight invited schools from outside of China.  The School would like to acknowledge the support of Peter Fu (Dip. Housing 1991) of K.F. Stone Design International Inc. Canada in helping the students travel to China.
