Rebuilding: Designing for Communities affected by Disasters
Workshops by renowned Pakistani architect Yasmeen LARI

Location: School of Architecture, in Rooms 101+102 (first floor)

OCTOBER 1. Sunday. 10:00 a.m. A half-day design-built workshop where students will learn to work with bamboo under the guidance of Pakistani architect Yasmeen LARI. Participants will construct a half-scale “Prefab OctaGreen Bamboo Shelter.” They will also experiment with cast mud bricks. Space is limited. OCTOBER 2. Monday. 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. Roundtable debate with Yasmeen LARI and experts from Montreal who work on rebuilding communities affected by disasters. Gonzalo Lizarralde (UdeM, Directeur de l’Observatoire universitaire de la vulnérabilité, la résilience et la reconstruction durable), Lisa Bornstein (McGill, SoUP), moderated by Ipek Tureli (McGill, SoA).

Yasmeen Lari will give a public talk as part of the lecture series of the School of Architecture on October 3 (Tuesday) at 6:00 p.m.
