Movement in Three Dimensions: Dance, Design, Dérive

The Moving Image Research Lab (MIRL), Ï㽶ÊÓƵ presents Movement in Three Dimensions: Dance, Design, Dérive: a two-day event composed of a day of roundtable discussions and 3D film screenings at McGill and a daylong workshop at Eastern Bloc artist-run centre.

On Tuesday April 30th, you are invited to McGill to attend a series of four roundtables on 3D printing, 3D dance onscreen and in performance, stereoscopic moving image production, and responsive environments. The event is designed to provide practitioners, researchers, and students a context in which to move through a rich and diverse range of media and concepts in an attempt to think in 3D.

On Wednesday May 1st, you are invited to attend a workshop at Eastern Bloc run by two local 3D film producers: Paul Raphael and Félix Lajeunesse. Félix and Paul will introduce the audience to their 3D film production practice, explain the core concepts, design issues, and work flow of stereoscopic image production, and collaborate with local dancers in an ad hoc production experiment conducted in Eastern Bloc’s spacious main gallery.
