The Montreal Media Policy Group (MMPG), in cooperation with Media@McGill, is very pleased to announce a discussion with Ralf Bendrath, Research Fellow at the University of Bremen. This event will take place on 2 May, from 5:30-7:00 p.m. at Thomson House, Ï㽶ÊÓƵ (room 404).
Ralf Bendrath will discuss some of the contemporary issues of Internet governance and multistakeholder participation in global communication forums. He will focus on the recently established Internet Governance Forum (IGF).
Bendrath works as a researcher on privacy policy and internet governance at the Collaborative Research Center "Transformations of the State", University of Bremen. He holds a diploma in political science from the Free University of Berlin. Ralf Bendrath has researched and published widely on a range of international policy issues like security policy, peace and conflict research, information warfare, cybersecurity and cyber arms control, internet governance, privacy, and digital identity. He was chief editor of the leading civil society website for the World Summit on the Information Society, and was a civil society member in the German government delegation to the WSIS World Summits 2003 and 2005. He is co-coordinator of the WSIS civil society Privacy & Security Working Group and the UN Internet Governance Forum's Dynamic Coalition on Privacy. Ralf Bendrath is also a "hard bloggin' scientist".
