Fridge Door Gallery | Campus Creative: Locating Art in the University
Join the Fridge Door Gallery on Thursday March 22nd at 4PM in Arts W-215 for “Campus Creative: Locating Art in the University,†a discussion panel on the place of creativity and art-making at McGill. Without a Fine Arts department at the University, many students find themselves needing alternative outlets like student groups to make and display their art. The situation McGill finds itself in is not unique, but is still intriguing and leads to many questions.
The discussion will be moderated by Prof. Matthew Hunter from the Art History department with invited speakers Gwendolyn Owens (Director, Visual Arts Collection of McGill), Eric Lewis (Director, Institute for the Public Life of Arts and Ideas), and Melissa Koziebrocki (Fridge Door Gallery founder, currently practicing artist and teacher), who will discuss topics such as fostering student creativity, developing technical skills vs academic skills, and perspectives on BFAs and artistic endeavours in the academic world.Ìý
Light refreshments will be served after the panel. We hope to see you all there!
